In late January of 2022 Mr. Young, who has a mental health diagnosis of schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder, was shot by police as part of an illegal stop as he was out walking his dog. Since the shooting he has had 22 surgeries, with another one pending. Currently the DA is taking steps to convict Mr. Young, a prison sentence would be a death sentence. We are working to call the DA to drop the charges so that he can maintain the high medical care he requires now, while also being able to remain a father and husband to his wife and children.
We are asking for students to help with calling the DA's office, signing our petition, as well as making posters and participating in the rally we are organizing for April 19th.
