The Love Your Block program will be adding a new layer of topsoil to a resident's backyard where we tested for lead earlier this summer. We will accomplish this goal with the help of volunteers by place a layer of burlap sacks, then a thick layer of mulch, followed by a final layer of compost. All materials are biol degradable and should leave 2 inches between the contaminated soil and the fresh top soil. Love Your Block will be distributing grass seeds in the backyard in the spring to prevent the new soil from eroding as it composts.
All volunteers should plan to meet in the parking lot of our office located at 200 Henry Johnson Blvd 12210. The Parking lot is located on the first left off of Third Street just before our main office building. We will travel separately as a group to the property in West Hill.
