What We Do

We are not a medical facility and operates independently by the Schenectady Community Home, Inc. Staff and volunteer caregivers serve as surrogate family for the residents. Services are free of charge! "My aunt’s last days were full of warmth, caring hands, and beautiful surroundings. You are all special people who helped her die with dignity and on her own terms.” ~ Family member Also, we offer capital region’s health professions students an educational opportunity to learn first-hand about the challenges of providing care when no cure is possible- Introduce the importance of providing comfort, dignity and patient centered care to people facing a prognosis of three months or less. Students learn end-of-life perspective and perform activities of daily living. “My time there provided me with a unique opportunity to test my nursing skills in a way not taught in the classroom. This experience has enriched me and given me a chance to look within myself and find my calling as I enter the nursing profession.” ~ Student Relies solely on donations, community support, grants and contributions.
