Who We Are
Grassroot Givers is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located in Albany, New York. Since 2009, we have been serving the Capital District by making the connection between needs in the community and those with resources to share.
What We Do
We receive beautiful, like-new donations of clothing, home essentials, and books for all ages from our dedicated network of donors and distribute them to community members in need of support. <
Individuals and families who have been referred to the Clothing and Home Essentials Program can choose what they need - totally free of charge. We stock clothing, shoes, and accessories for all ages, with professional and casual options. We can provide necessities like bedding, dishes, pots and pans, and more to help those leaving a shelter set up their new apartment.
Since 2011, the Book Project has shared 400,000 free books through our 20 Little Free Libraries, the Homeless and Travelers Aid Society’s Feed and Read Program which provides 550 books a week to Albany schoolchildren, and other partner programs.
In addition to providing direct support to individuals, we support over 50 programs run by nonprofit organizations in the Capital Region including family shelters, after school programs, public schools, Head Start programs, veterans/family programs, and domestic abuse programs. By working closely with these programs, we are able to focus on the specific supplies and resources needed.
