Who We Are
MISSION: The Center for Donation & Transplant offers hope and healing to donor families in upstate New York and western Vermont, empowering our community to restore the health of those needing an organ or tissue transplant.
VISION: To realize every donation opportunity, maximize every donor's gifts, and satisfy the transplant needs of all patients.
HISTORY: The Center for Donation & Transplant (CDT) is one of 58 federally designated non-profit organ procurement organizations in the United States. CDT's core work: Educating the community on the importance and impact of donation, encouraging those who wish to donate to register. Supporting donor families through providing compassionate care, continuous support throughout the donation process, and long-term family aftercare services. Each year, CDT supports over 600 donor families through their donation experience. Maximizing each donor's gifts through clinical expertise and collaboration with hospitals and transplant centers. Each year, nearly 200 lives are saved from organ transplantation while approximately 30,000 other lives are enhanced through the healing gift of tissue grafts.
What We Do
COMMUNITY OUTREACH: We work with a number of community groups to raise awareness for organ and tissue donation throughout the region. Volunteers attend these events on CDT's behalf and help to educate the communities we serve. CDT provides all materials and giveaways.
SCHOOL PROGRAMS AND STUDENT EDUCATION: CDT offers education programs to provide students and educators information about organ and tissue donation. High schools and colleges are encouraged to share information on organ and tissue donation with their students. CDT can assist educators by providing materials, giveaways, and speakers for events. Volunteers are needed to secure and attend these events in the community.
