Volunteer: Volunteer as a service to The Armed Forces Caseworker-AlbanyVolunteer Virtually for Service to the Armed Forces as a Red Cross Caseworker! The American Red Cross has a long history of providing support and services to the Armed Forces. Our volunteers and staff help active members of the military, veterans, and their families cope with the challenges of military service. YOU can help us provide that support. *This is a volunteer role, not a paid position. VOLUNTEER TITLE: Service to Armed Forces Caseworker DUTIES: Conduct follow-up phone calls to military family members, veterans and active-duty military members to ensure excellent support. Interview those who need assistance and file reports in a Red Cross software system. Work individually and on a casework team to provide the best support and referrals. TIME COMMITMENT: Time commitment is coordinated with our Volunteer Casework Lead. Hours are flexible, but an overall commitment of 5-10 hours is preferred each week. REQUIRED SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS: We’re looking for someone who appreciates and is familiar with military culture, military families, and veterans' issues. Reliable access to equipment and resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually, including internet and phone. Good computer skills to include use of Internet search tools; and Microsoft Office Suite, to include Outlook, word-processing, database and/or spreadsheet applications.Training specific to the American Red Cross Service to Armed Forces is provided and required. *This volunteer role is for someone with excellent interpersonal skills, who can convey warmth and respect for human dignity.
