Giffen Elementary School will be hosting their annual Garden Kick Off event to prep school raised beds for planting, upkeep playground areas, maintain the various gardens on school grounds and teach students about the importance of caring for our local environment and community. Volunteers will be expected to complete a variety of the following tasks: prune bushes and tree branches, spread mulch on playgrounds, stain wooden garden structures, pick up litter, pull weeds, till soil, and plant trees. Volunteers will work side by side with students to both provide direct assistance and teach them the correct techniques. Afterwards, there will be food, community tabling, resources available to students, parents, and participants.
