Learn to prepare tax returns for individuals and families in your community. Anyone can volunteer whether you've never seen a tax return before or you've been doing taxes for years. We provide flexible training opportunities and resource materials to help you learn everything you need to know about taxes. Gain a useful skill while helping families in your community save money and increase their financial stability.

Tax Preparer Responsibilities:

Learn at your own pace with our electronic training guides and website and pass short exams in ethics and basic tax knowledge. 

Use information and tax documents gathered from clients to prepare an accurate tax return in our easy-to-use software

Collaborate with an experienced tax preparer to review the return to ensure it is 100% complete and correct

VITA Greeter Responsibilities: Greet all taxpayers visiting the tax site to create a pleasant atmosphere. Screen all taxpayers upon arrival at the site to ensure that each has the necessary information required to complete his/her return. Monitor site traffic to ensure that sufficient time is allowed for all taxpayers being checked in at the site to receive assistance.
