The mission of Sunhee's Community Place is to connect a positive food culture with refugee empowerment through education, employment, and access to resources. This program is designed to prepare immigrant and refugee learners with access to the skills necessary to participate in the workforce. Sunhee’s Community Place understands that the greatest need in adult language learning is amongst those with zero or limited proficiency in English and oftentimes their native/home language thus requiring instructors to invest more time in the learning environment
What We Do
Sunhee’s Community Place, located in Troy, NY, started in response to the growing immigrant and refugee population relocating to the Capital Region. Throughout its history, Sunhee’s has developed programs that help empower immigrant and refugee families through education, employment, and access to resources. Sunhee’s provides a range of services, including Career Development, Citizenship classes, and English as a New Language (ENL) instruction. Additionally, Sunhee’s offers one-on-one Language Partner Programs, hands-on Experiential Learning Opportunities, and Technology Assistance Programs to support community members' growth and success.
